Definition

Water meter magnets are magnets installed inside the water meter. Usually, a small ferrite permanent magnet, permanent magnet retains a high residual magnet for a long period in an open circuit state. In water meters, it is an integral part of the meter counting device and other components.

Position and function

Location: generally located near the counter of the water meter. The water meter mainly comprises components such as the case, impeller, filter, counter, etc. The magnet is usually connected to the counter's transmission device.

Role:

Signal transmission: in some smart water meters with electronic devices, the magnet is used to transmit the rotation signal of the impeller. When the water flow pushes the impeller to rotate, the magnet connected to the impeller also rotates. Through magnetic induction, the mechanical rotation signal of the impeller is converted into an electrical signal, thus realizing accurate counting and data transmission of water consumption. For example, in some remote water meters, the magnet inside the water meter and the sensor outside the water meter are coupled by the magnetic field, and the sensor can sense the rotating magnetic field change of the magnet and convert it into a pulse signal, thus realizing the remote meter reading function.

Auxiliary counting: In traditional mechanical water meters, magnets can also be coupled with counting mechanisms such as gears. Through the magnetic adsorption or pushing effect of the magnet, the counting gears will rotate more accurately and reduce the counting error. Because the water meter may cause inaccurate counting due to impurities in the water, mechanical wear and tear, and other factors during long-term use, the presence of magnets can ensure the stability of the counting device to a certain extent.
